Teams Meet For The First Time Since 2018

Poland faces Netherlands in Euro 2024 opener

Teams meet for the first time since 2018

Poland without top scorer Lewandowski

Poland will be without their top scorer Robert Lewandowski when they face the Netherlands in their opening Euro 2024 match on Thursday.

The Barcelona striker is suspended for the game after picking up a yellow card in Poland's final warm-up match against Iceland.

It is a major blow for Poland, who will be looking to make a strong start to their campaign after failing to progress beyond the group stage at the last two major tournaments.

The Netherlands will be looking to make a positive start to the tournament after a disappointing World Cup campaign in 2022.

The Dutch were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Argentina and will be looking to improve on that performance in Poland.

The match between Poland and the Netherlands is due to start at 12:00 p.m. CET on Thursday.
